Turrita Choir of Bellinzona directed by Eros Beltraminelli
First founded as a folk choir in 1938, the Piccoli Cantori della Turrita, under new director Eros Beltraminelli from the early 70s, began performing polyphonic choral music. After a short period of time, the choir reached a high level of performance and acclaim worldwide, and since then has performed in 15 countries on 2 continents.
The choir's repertoire, with more demanding pieces, now requires a more extensive period of vocal training. For new voices, this usually starts at the age of seven, and continues until about the age of twenty. The current ensemble consists of choristers mostly between thirteen and nineteen years of age. In the 1990s, Gregorian chant was added to the repertoire, receiving flattering reviews.
From time to time, the choir collaborates with professional vocal and instrumental ensembles.
